The Turkey–Japan Symposium, titled “Friendship and Peace on the Silk Road: Syntheses in Textile Art from Traditional to Contemporary” (10–11 September 2007), aimed to re-examine the cultural interactions between the East and the West by drawing on the historical significance of the Silk Road. Taking place during the anniversary year of diplomatic relations between Japan, China and Central Asian countries, the event created a new space for dialogue and artistic exchange, fostering cross-cultural understanding and trust. The symposium provided a platform for cultural synthesis, combining traditional values with contemporary interpretations through textile art.
