Founded in 1957, the School of Applied Fine Arts is an innovative art education institution shaped by the Bauhaus philosophy, established to meet Turkey’s need for designers in the industrial sector. Starting with just five departments, the school introduced a new approach to art education in Turkey through its Basic Art Education programme and interdisciplinary methods. In 1982, it became affiliated with Marmara University and adopted the name Faculty of Fine Arts, successfully fulfilling its founding mission.
